| Anhidrosis commonly referred to as 'dry coat', 'the
puffs' or 'non-sweating' disease' is the inability for the horse to
sweat after exercise. This condition usually develops in horses that are
exercised and stabled in hot and humid weather.
In tropical locations 50 to 60% of horses will present the disease. Horses that loose the ability to sweat efficiently, will puff and blow to reduce their core temperature. This is a very serious condition and you should seek medical attention immediately. |
